The Role of Cyber Insurance Today (12-1PM)

Please join John Southrey as he explains the role and importance of cyber insurance in today’s world. In this educational event, you will learn the basics of cyber insurance that are important for anyone in the health care IT space.

 

John Southrey is the Director of Product Development and Consulting Services at Texas Medical Liability Trust. As a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM), he leads the development and marketing of standalone cyber liability and technology errors and omissions liability insurance for hospitals, medical groups, Health Information Exchanges, health IT firms, and law firms. He also administers his employer’s corporate commercial insurance and speaks about cyber insurance to organizations throughout Texas. He has written numerous articles/blogs on cyber-related topics, including developing a 1-hour accredited program titled “Do You Know Your Cyber Risks?” and he is the author of the monograph "Complete the Circuit: Insuring EDP [Electronic Data Processing] Exposures."

In    this educational event, you will learn the essentials of online digital defense and how to keep your personal information safe.

 

Brenda Rose is the Director of IT Security & Chief Information Security Officer for the UMC Health System. An accomplished Information Technology Business Leader that has delivered information security services and solutions across Technology, Telecommunications and Healthcare industries. She has worked for NCR, AT&T Credit-Global Information Solutions, Premier Health Partners, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and is now serving UMC. She brings 28 years’ experience in Information Technology, 23 years spent in the Healthcare IT space and 19 years directly in the Information Security domain. As a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), she oversees the strategic oversight of key IT security measures across the UMC Health System. She is a dynamic leader and strong advocate for information security. She has served as a cybersecurity guest speaker at such venues as ‘Innovate Pasadena’ and enjoyed being an industry panel member and mentor for Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles for the new Cybersecurity Badge Program.
